Sr. Warehouse Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Responsible for defining, developing, implementing, and monitoring the performance of standardized warehousing processes and best practices. This role will be leading operational process support for TransPak Inc. Glendale AZ Warehousing Ops, ensuring cost effective, efficient, and quality enriched output. This role will work very close with IT group for marrying up warehouse processes with supporting systems and hardware (WMS, OMS, TMS, scanners, printers,  etc.). This role will help define and drive the supporting IT requirements and schedule for meeting required outcome. All encompassing, this is a “Warehouse Process Adherence role”, with key focus / responsibility on process development, quality process output, and functional area training. Role will be reporting direct to the area Warehouse Ops Manager.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Warehouse SME will work as Subject Matter Expert to define and setup key supporting processes: Inbound Operations (Receipt to put-away), Outbound Operations (Pick, pack, QC audit, ship), Inventory Control (Cycle Counting, adjustments, movements), ASN and Master Parts List adherence.
  • Warehouse SME will work with Warehouse Manager to develop strategies and objectives to maximize productivity while ensuring quality process output and accurate inventory control. You will analyze trends, solve problems and work closely with staff associates in order to maximize contribution.
  • Driving to ensure operational excellence in all warehouse operations inclusive of: Warehouse Management System(s), inventory is processed accurately and efficiently, warehouse safety protocol, proper layout of warehouse and product placement, proper maintenance and organization of all warehouse areas (5S), sufficient material handling equipment and documentation of.
  • Assists Warehouse Manager with the evaluation of the effectiveness of and recommends alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve accurate and timely movement and processing of product. Manage to ensure warehouse layout is optimally aligned for maximum efficiency and flexible to accommodate shifts in business patterns. Deploy and support BKMs (Best Known Methods).
  • Owns creation and maintenance of supporting process Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions. Additionally, this role will aid in on-floor training and certification as needed.
  • Quality – Role will be responsible for ensuring quality process output against all functional area SOPs. Develop and execute audits per defined schedule. Perform operational RCCA against customer noted incidences of non-conforming shipments or product movement. Work with functional area lead on corrective action steps.
  • Training - Role will be directly responsible for maintaining warehouse associate training schedule and supporting record keeping.

What We’d Like to See from You

 

Highly Desired 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-10 years’ experience in warehouse setup, processing, and performance management
  • In-depth knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems and interdependencies with supporting processes and best practices
  • Ability to write and represent Business Requirements Documents (BRD), supporting collaborative process solutions across IT and Warehousing Ops.
  • Understands Transportation (Trucking, freight) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Ability to build and maintain teamwork relations and collaboration.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • MS office experience – Particularly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start, take initiative, problem solve
  • Demonstrated time and/or project management capabilities.
  • Manages complex issues and problems.
  • Possess working knowledge of subject matter or functional areas.
