Position Overview

The Materials Manager & Customer Fullfillment employee plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing the end-to-end materials management process within a company's supply chain. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of materials, from procurement and production planning to inventory control and shipping logistics. The Materials Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to meet production demands, control costs, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage timely delivery of material and schedules to support optimized level of working capital and customer service levels
  • Hire, train, instruct, supervise, and evaluate buyers/planners, warehouse lead, and office support personnel
  • Ensure timely, accurate systems maintenance and information
  • Coordinate with Contract Manufacturers (CM) to execute timely production schedule to the right priorities that may include highlighting the impact of CM component shortage and recommend necessary adjustments to the plans
  • Actively involved with non-conforming material dispositioning as part of the Material Review Board (MRB) process
  • Lead SIOP meetings (demand planning, supply planning, pre-meeting, executive meeting) to drive cross-functional alignment and consensus including tracking, trending, and reporting of any relevant information.
  • Ensure accuracy and credibility of inputs to the SIOP process
  • Oversee and manage inventory levels and ensure accurate and timely inventory counts
  • Develop and implement materials management and warehouse procedures and policies to optimize efficiency and productivity
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures
  • Monitor and maintain material handling equipment and facilities
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and timely order fulfillment
  • Analyze data and develop reports to improve processes and reduce costs
  • Implement and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, logistics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in materials and warehouse management or a related field
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Supply Chain systems such as ERP (SD, MM, PP), WMS and data analytics tools (Advance Excel, Excel VBA, SQL)
  • SIOP process ownership and extensive planning/scheduling experience
  • Strong bias for action and hands-on involvement at the Gemba
  • Skillful negotiator with process orientation and aptitude in systems thinking
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team

 

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Certification in supply chain, inventory management, production planning, inventory management (e.g., APICS CPIM, APICS CSCP, ISM CPSM)
  • Certification in logistics or a related field (e.g., Certified Logistics Professional)
