Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer has a strong technical background and good communication skills who can work as part of a cross-functional team to provide technical support on process improvement in PCBA, Electronics BxB and HLA unit manufacturing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and documenting manufacturing processes that improve labor efficiency and quality, reduce work in-process, scrap, and overall manufacturing costs.
Primary Responsibilities
- Work as part of cross-functional team to provide technical support on process improvement in PCBA, Electronics BxB and HLA unit manufacturing.
- Develop and document manufacturing processes that improve labor efficiency and quality, reduce work in-process, scrap, and overall manufacturing costs.
- Provide technical support to establish manufacturing methods to improve processes and product flow.
- Use and understand Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Drive KPI (Key Process Indicators) improvements revolving around Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost (SQDC) and execution of customer demand at the department level.
- Manage multiple projects, multiple deadlines, assuring schedules are defined and met, and prioritize work appropriately to meet commitments.
- Create and control manufacturing instructions and implement engineering changes to the production floor.
- Use manufacturing data to implement process change.
- Perform DFM and DFA evaluations on new products.
- Generate Standard Operating Procedures and establish scheduled maintenance for machines and equipment.
- Perform cost justification of new equipment and tooling.
- Evaluate and disposition non-conforming material per Quality Procedures.
- Define criteria for operator qualification checklists of processes and machines.
- Evaluate scrap and rework data with implementation of corrective action.
- Perform training of team members per Quality and Standard Operating Procedures and specialized manufacturing techniques.
- Monitor manufacturing processes to assure compliance with approved methods and Quality standards.
- Advise and assist Product Engineering and Quality Engineering as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, electrical, systems, engineering, or other relevant discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience.
- Excellent communication both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and analyze periodicals, business reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, Team Members and the general public.
- Strong skills in grammar and proofreading.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.
- Ability to collect data, solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive image in any situation using good judgment.
- Ability to use office software, including Word processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Slide Presentations, Internet browsers, E-mail, and business systems software.
