Title:                            Quality Control Technician – Product Lab

Reports To:                 Sr. Manager-Quality & Document Control

Department:               Quality Control

Supervises:                 N/A

Organizational Relationships: 

Contact with all areas of Quality Assurance and operational personnel.

Basic Function:

Performs diversified product (both bulk and finished product) testing involving mechanical and/or chemical tests and laboratory investigation under general supervision.

 

Responsibilities: 

  1. Review of data correlation or Quality product test results for release of bulk for filling.  (Physical testing, viscosity, pH, SG, meltpoint, breakage, crush and penetration.)
  2. Batch and raw material shade approvals.
  3. Reports testing results to compounders and supervisors.
  4. Records and reports data.  Works with production personnel when assigned.
  5. Must be familiar with functions and operation of all laboratory equipment.
  6. Responsible for normal equipment maintenance and cleaning of laboratory glassware inclusive of individual assigned work station.
  7. Where applicable will be involved with customer contact.
  8. Prints specification sheets from batchpak.
  9. Marries test sheets and samples for evaluation.
  10. Perform daily checks (temperature) on ovens and incubations.
  11. Maintain and review notebooks.
  12. Retain organize batch samples.
  13. Organoleptic evaluations.
  14. Maintain masters.
  15. Perform balance checks, daily pH, thermometer, viscometer, chatalon, penetrometric calibrations.
  16. Review customer supplied bulk and Certificate of Analysis.
  17. Review batch cards for release to pre-weigh.
  18. Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 1 year of related experience.
  3. Computer literate.
  4. Effective communication skills - internal and customer interface - to resolve issues and relay information.
  5. Ability to follow written (TM’s and SOPs) and verbal instruction.
