Title:                            Operations Supervisor

Reports to:                 Operations & Manufacturing Plant Manager

Department:              Operations

Supervises:    

Packaging, Assembly and/or Manufacturing (if applicable) and/or Pressing (if applicable) areas including Set-up and other support areas at direction of Operations & Manufacturing Plant Manager.

Organizational Relationships:          

Direct communication with Operations Manager, Planner, CSR and supervisors and employees in their area.  Interfaces with all other departments.

Basic Function:          

To maintain the daily scheduling of employees in their area to meet required production and quality standards.  Maintain a safe efficient work environment.  Training of employees, implementing company policies and procedures, and GMP’s.        

 

Responsibilities:        

 

  1. Direct all filling and/or assembly activities as they pertain to area of responsibility, assuring the correct product, proper quantity, best quality at the least cost.

 

  1. Maintain a steady flow of work through the department.

 

  1. Designate all necessary information in the form of specifications, hourly standards, etc., as required for employees under supervision.

 

  1. Initiates improvements to equipment, procedures and labor staffing to improve costs, quality and GMP’s.

 

  1. Assure that all the required materials, parts, and supplies necessary for the filling and/or assembly of the product are available.

 

  1. To maintain within the department the clerical and control procedures specified by the Operations Manager.

 

  1. Directly train and evaluate personnel assigned to perform job requirements of the department and recommend merit increases to Management.

 

  1. Act as advisor to the Operations & Manufacturing Plant Manager in the make-up of recommended budgets for the department.

 

  1. Meets budgets guidelines as established, i.e., efficiencies, and control of overtime.

 

  1. Orders and maintains production supplies for department with approval of the    Operations Manager.

 

  1. Assist staff and others in making improvements in methods and procedures.

 

  1. Maintain alert attention of the progress throughout the department of all the products being filled and assembled, and also to eliminate downtime.

 

  1. Meet the master schedule of required production output.

 

  1. Maintain records, as necessary, that insure the speed and accuracy of efficiency within the department.

 

  1. Responsible for the maintenance of good housekeeping within the department.

 

  1. Hold and document monthly Department Communications Meetings.

 

  1. Stand in for Operations Manager when necessary.

 

  1. Review all departmental employees annually.

 

  1. Maintain GMP’s.

 

  1. Responsible for all employees’ safety through proper training in a safe work environment.

 

  1. Evaluates subordinates’ performance.

 

  1. Responsible for all other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  1. B.S. Degree in Engineering, Business or Chemistry required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. A minimum of 7 years in a plant manufacturing environment.
  3. A minimum of 5 years prior supervisory experience required.
  4. Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution attributes.
  5. Sharp production focus with a drive for accurate results.
  6. Knowledge of plant G.M.P., environmental, safety and QC procedures.
  7. Strong analytic skills and problem solving skills.
