OVERVIEW

Crestron Electronics continues to experience rapid growth as we invest in resources and create new opportunities; as a result, we have an exciting opportunity for a Summer 2024 Intern to join our Test Engineering department in Orangeburg, NY. This role has been designated for a 100% On-Site work arrangement.

 

Crestron Interns and Co-Ops can expect to be challenged with meaningful projects and tasks alongside professionals and subject matter experts in the field. Interns and Co-Ops are assigned a dedicated mentor who will be responsible for their development and acclimation to the company. Crestron will also provide a variety of training and networking opportunities to participants in the program, seeking to present participants with a comprehensive experience that enhances technical and non-technical skill sets and to prepare students for their professional careers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of production test systems for Crestron’s product lines (DM, Audio, lighting or others)
  • Take a role in communicating, coordinating, and driving time constrained projects related to design and development of test solutions
  • Coordinate and/or develop test plans, test procedures, test platforms and test specifications
  • Assist TE managers with the planning, creation and validation of functional test specs, test procedures and test equipment required to perform production test
  • Develop custom test equipment, fixturing and software test programs as required for a given project
  • Explore new avenues and test technologies for quality improvements on production testing assignments and turn into actionable projects
  • Perform statistical analyses on design quality of product assigned, identify trends and spearhead corrective actions
  • Coordinate test and production teams to implement and/or deploy test systems
  • Coordinate test training activities for team members and production personnel
  • Work with design engineering to develop a test approach and strategy for a product and/or suite of products
  • Coordinate with design engineering test and debug activities for product features during new product introduction
  • Support production NPI during the initial launch phase and ensure acceptable test repeatability and product yields
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by the manager
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

General Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a college or university working toward a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or closely related field
  • Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week during the entire internship period
  • Must be commutable to and from the Orangeburg, NY area for the duration of the internship period
  • Must have permanent, unrestricted work authorization in the United States now and in the future

 

Technical Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Proven problem resolution and technical decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with common test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in developing and debug of languages such as C++, C#,
  • Python, Java, etc.
  • Knowledge in test automation including but not limited to instruments control, fixturing
    development and systems integration
  • Familiarity with National Instruments LabVIEW or TestStand is beneficial but not required.

 

Other Skills

  • Must be responsible, self-motivated, creative, have a solid work ethic and have a desire to produce a quality product
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written, and listening) with the ability to articulate work at different levels of the organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Inquisitive individual with a desire to learn, possessing a long-term desire to work in the test engineering space
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously
  • Positive, personable, and able to work cohesively with other across various divisions
  • Occasional lifting of test fixtures up to 30 pounds
